ker Casillas has been a solid last line of defence for Real Madrid since 1999. A young goalkeeper, he can make up for the experience with acrobatic saves that a traditional goalkeeper more experienced wouldn't have thought possible.
His debut season with Real Madrid was a memorable one, winning the Champions League, and the League title. He would give the spot to Cesar Sanchez before taking it back during the 2001/02 Champions League finals against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, which they won.
Always willing to put his body on the line, Casillas has had plenty of successful one on one situations.
He made his international debut against Sweden in 2000, earning a spot for the national team in Euro 2000.
Two years later, he represented Spain in the World Cup, in a much more successful campaign in terms of playing time and victories, stopping 3 penalties in that tournament alone.
In Euro 2004, Spain were eliminated from the group stages itself, when surprise champions, Greece, and runners-up Portugal going through the next round.
Casillas' Real Madrid team also started to fall below expectations, not winning the league for two years in a row.
